Women employment and work life balance

Unlike in conventional business era, there is a significant increase in women unemployment with the inception of this century with the changes in the economic as well as social business context. There are enormous amount of economic factors such as inflation, increase in interest rates and so on has increased the requirement for women employment and the changes in the life styles, urbanization as well as other social conditions would also enhances the necessity of employing women in the business environment(Kaushalya, R.K.N & Perera, G.D.N, 2018).

There are numerous challenges which can be identified with regards to the women employment when compared with the men employment. Management of work life balance can be considered as the most challenging and crucial consequence confronted by the women as far as employment is concerned. Unlike men, there are several duties and responsibilities to be handled by the women even before they leave to the office as well as after returning to home after work where a lot of household work to be done. Therefore, would have to obtain support from other family members in performing their duties and thereby several initiatives are practiced by them such as food preservation, outside food patterns, usage of appliances facilitating to save time and so on. It can be identified that there are several challenges towards employees to maintain work life balances when they are assigned a heavy work load which needs to be undertaken even at night. On the other hand based on the nature of the employment, working shifts would also get changed (RKN Kaushalya & GDN Perera, 2018).

Therefore, it is required to establish proper work live balancing policies as a part of the HR practices since failure to maintain proper work life balance would create impact to the overall society. Therefore, proper task assignment, providing reasonable deadlines, feedback generation process, arrangement of mind relaxing programmes such as medication, yoga and so on needs to be followed to ensure that employees are able to maintain a proper work life balance.

There, getting a job that matches their education, job security, how other officers look at female employees at the workplace, how the responsibilities assigned to female officers should be different from the male party and what can an organization do for female officers to maintain a balance between work and personal life. I hope the topics will be presented in one of your future posts.
