Reasons for failures of teams and solutions



A work team generates positive synergy through coordinated effort. Their individual efforts results in a level of performance that is greater than the sum of those individual inputs. There are several discrepancies between groups as well as teams where the key objective of forming a team where there is a collective performance through the formation of a team. It urges to create positive synergies where there are individual as well as mutual accountability towards the achievement of objectives(lumenlearning.com, 2022).

However, it can be identified that there are several instances where teams tend to be failed. When there is no proper direction and the guidance for the team while not having proper roles for the team members. Moreover, when the team is dominated by few people, team collaboration tend to get declined. Employee lack of communication among the team,  less effectiveness of the leadership as well as lack of focus of team member progression would be considered as key reasons for the team failures. Moreover, lack of rationality of decision making within the team also affects the effectiveness of the team (Scully, 2020).

Therefore, following process needs to be followed when developing the team (hugo.team, 2022).

Forming

This is the stage of making awareness regarding the team members where identification of each other, setting up goals for the team, accumulation of essential information and so on are focused.

Storming

Identification of opinions of each member is occurred during this stage where the conflicts are emerged within the team.

Norming

During this stage, all conflicts are effectively resolved with the usage of participatory problem solving process. Team members are encouraged to work together while obtaining key learnings through the discussions within the team.

Performing

Employees are developed and encouraged to performed in order to achieve desired productivity.

Adjourning

Feedbacks are obtained regarding the team performance while celebrating the success. Upon the achievement of desired objectives, the team would be adjourned.
